Welcome to Ohana

Starlings. It might not seem as though they have much in common with a pioneering school and the extraordinary neurodiverse children who will attend it. But they do. In particular, the murmuration – the collective movement of starlings – is a powerful metaphor for the creation and operation of an education programme that combines online learning and therapeutic approaches, so that no one is left behind.
This natural phenomenon of the starlings moving together is an ideal symbol for our innovative education model. But it goes further.

See the single white bird in a flock? The idea was simple: to shine a light on the flock and the individual.

Centrering on the needs of neurodiverse learners

About Ohana

Ohana is designed to help children learn differently – in the way that works best for them. We offer specialist, online education pathways for children who need a personalised way of learning outside of a traditional school setting. Ohana is a bold rethinking of what education should look like when it genuinely centres on the needs of neurodiverse learners.

Ohana means family, and family means no one gets left behind… or forgotten. This powerful concept lies at the heart of our online school and guided learning pathways. Our online school is personalised to the learning needs of neurodiverse children, and children who don’t flourish in a traditional school environment. Whether a child is autistic, has ADHD, dyslexia, other cognitive differences, or mental health concerns, we play to their strengths, helping them navigate their unique challenges.

We offer three distinct learning pathways:

  • Ohana Explorer – our fully online school
  • Ohana Wayfinder – blended learning for children who have been out of education for a prolonged period
  • Ohana Pathmaker – for those transitioning back to school

We tailor each child’s education package around our Sense Wheel, giving a sense of structure and a clear pathway for success.
